The closing theme to Disney's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is a catchy little ditty. In case you thought the voices sounded familiar, but never took the time to figure it out, the singers are They Might Be Giants. TMBG are one of my all-time favorite bands, so it brings me joy (and creeps me out a little) that they are singing this song. Oh, and BTW, they sing the opening song too.

MahNah-MahNah

When I was in high-school my friend Amber and I had this MahNah-MahNah record. A 45. It wasn't a Muppets version, it was possibly the original version. We began treating The Great MahNahMahNah at though it were a deity. It was a Big Deal. I had no idea that other people in the world had ever heard the song. Lo and behold EVERYONE has heard it.

The Monster in the Mirror

Quinn has this Sesame Street song on a CD. One day we searched each of the songs from the album to see if they could be found at YouTube and I think almost every single one was there. I particularly liked this one because of the celebrities in it. There is a non-celeb version as well, but I find this one more enjoyable.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

This is the video that I was referring to in my first post. The hippo and dog one, not the dead penguin one. Quinn likes it a lot. There are a number of other videos of these characters, but most of them seem to be elaborate fart jokes. The origin of these characters is Pixar, but I haven't been able to determine *exactly* where this is from.

Welcome to Kid Vid

So, last night my daughter Quinn and I were playing on YouTube. I think we were watching that one with the hippo and the dog doing The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Afterwards, Quinn pointed to a cartoony penguin on an iceberg. Seemed harmless enough. Turns out that the big penguin throws one of the annoying little ones in the water and it gets eaten by a shark or sea lion or something. Quinn says, "birdie got a bone" as the decapitated head floats by with a bone sticking out. Um...yeah...

Anyway, I decided that there WERE tons of videos out there that are safe for kids to watch. I thought I would put the movies here instead of there. This way we can have a safe place to watch and your kids can too.
